Project Catoca Treatment Plant celebrates 12th aniversary

It all started on july 31st 1997, the process of treatment of mining and diamond recovery at the Treatment Central 1 (CT1), from Project Catoca.
After 12 years, CT1 still functions and achieved a high development level, according to Chief of Department of Metallurgy, Marçal Vigário.

“Built during an instable political and economical phase, the Treatment Central through persistence, engaging and permanent study of new technologies, managed to achieved considerable levels of technical and scientific development, corresponding to the expectations of the Direction of the company in what concerns the capability of mining treatment and diamond recovery”, stated.

CT1 contributed for the development and financial stability, important factor which helped to project and implement the Treatment Central 2, inaugurated November 2005, as well as the continuous physical and geological studies at Catoca and other areas, detection of kimberlites and aluvions, modernization and development of exploration processes, transport and control of the mining mass.

The Mining Society of Catoca is a joint venture between the following companies: ENDIAMA EP(Angolana), Almazzi Rossi (Russa), Daumonty Financing Company B.Vgrupo Lev Leviev (Israelita) e a Odebrecht Mining Services Inc. (Brasileira).

Catoca is the 4th biggest kimberlite in the world, and its main object is to prospect, mine, treatment and Diamond trading.
