Illegal Diamond mining is stopped in Bié

The Chief of Major-Estate General of the Angolan Army Forces, (FAA), Francisco Pereira Furtado, stated recently in the city of Kuito (Bié) that the illegal diamond mining has been stopped in the region.

Furtado stated that the artisanal mining of the “precious stone” in the diamondiferous areas of the province of Bié, were practiced especially for foreign citizens, is banned due to the recovery operation that take place constantly in those areas.

“We shouldn’t rest, considering that the activity has definitely been stopped, since these individuals can return to same areas and start all over again, therefore, these operation should take place constantly”, he stated.
